Alex Henry letter to Pere Hyacinth in Rome, [187-?].

This item is an undated letter written in French from Rev. Alex Henry to Pere Hyacinth. The letter criticizes Pere Hyacinth for leading the Protestants and condemns him for speaking against the Catholic church. Rev. Henry calls Pere Hyacinth the son of the devil and an apostate who will spend eternity in hell.

Nothing is known about Rev. Alex Henry, the author of the letter. Pere Hyacinth was the psuedonym of the French preacher named Charles Loyson. He was born in 1827 and was successively a Sulpician, a Dominican, and a Carmelite. In 1869, when he was perhaps the best-known preacher in France, he opposed the calling of the Vatican Council.
